Biblical Research
B. James Howells began Watchfire Ministries in 2005 when God placed a vision in his heart to “bring the Living Word to those living in the world”. As an avid learner, he started doing extensive biblical research for pastors to use in their teachings. The pastors would speak at large conferences ministering to people across the country. Eventually, James began speaking himself at conferences and teaching at churches and with ministries nationally.
As the ministry grew, James witnessed first-hand that the pastors needed a safe place to talk about their own personal struggles in a confidential manner. As teachers of God’s word, it can be a heavy burden to carry, and pastors may face unique challenges. It is important for them to surround themselves with trusted colleagues to keep them on the right path. Watchfire Minsitries developed a biblically based pastoral counseling program to meet this very important need in the church.
James 3:1 (NLV) tells us “My Christian brothers, not many of you should become teachers. If we do wrong, it will be held against us more than other people who are not teachers.”
Biblical Life Coaching
Watchfire Ministries began to evolve and now it offers biblical life coaching services for pastors and congregants. Throughout the bible we are instructed on how to deal with life’s difficulties and the knowledgeable staff lead others to important scriptures to help them navigate situations. This additional support is important, because a person may not want to go to his/her pastor out of fear of looking silly or being judged, but Watchfire Ministries is a safe, confidential place to learn more about God’s word and to navigate through life’s challenges.
Watchfire Ministries Teaching Principles
Watchfire Ministries is based on two teaching principles:
• Spiritual warfare: There is no doubt that we are fighting a spiritual battle every day. Satan lies in wait for those days when we are tired and have not spent time in the Word. He will pounce on this opportunity to isolate us, feeding our insecurities and causing us to become anxious and fearful.
• Biblical Integrity: We need to learn God’s word and memorize scripture. This is key when Satan attacks. We can douse the anxious thoughts with the truth in God’s word. It also helps us to spread God’s word to others. When we know scripture, we can share it with others going through difficult circumstances for him/her to renew his/her mind.
“The bible is not some book that we put on the mantle. It is something that is alive in us,” said James.
Deliverance Ministry
In addition to biblical life coaching, Watchfire Ministries also offers biblically based Deliverance Ministry. This ministry is helping many Christians who are coming out of the new age, occult, and dealing with other matters of oppression and darkness. One area their Deliverance ministry has found success is within the homeless community, helping them to acclimate to a better lifestyle by overcoming addiction. Breaking the mental strongholds that keep them returning to the same bad habits is key to a successful transition.
Through prayer, biblical teachings, and active deliverance a person is able to break away from the chains that can bind and to address his/her bad habits and replace them with good scriptural habits to move forward with his/her life.
